What fruits should my dog avoid?

Unfortunately, not all fruits are good to give to our furry friends. Contrary to the many benefits of certain fruits for dogs, certain fruits are harmful, even toxic for your dog. So the following list is even more important to remember.

6 Fruits to avoid

1. Grapes

Grapes are incredibly toxic. They can cause acute kidney failure. If you suspect your dog has eaten grapes contact your veterinarian promptly.

2. Raisins

Like grapes, raisins are extremely toxic. They are very concentrated and therefore cause kidney failure even faster. So avoid giving raisins to your dog!

3. Cherries

Cherry pits contain cyanide. It is a poison for dogs that can even kill them. If your dog has eaten cherries, watch for signs such as dilated pupils, difficulty breathing, and discolouration of mucous membranes. Pitless cherries are safe, however.

4. Lemons

Although your dog is unlikely to spontaneously eat a lemon, it is best not to give him anything that contains lemon skin or seeds. These contain essential oils that can be harmful to your dog. In addition, such a high concentration of citric acid is not good for him.

5. Persimmon

Persimmons can cause intestinal problems that can be very unpleasant.

6. Avocado

Although avocados are a superfood for us, we recommend that you do not give them to your dog. Avocados contain persin, which can kill your furry friend.
