sides of the basket)<\/li><li>4 short boards, 80 cm x 14 cm (for the short sides of the basket)<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>\u200d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For the bed frame base, keep aside: <\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<ul><li>5 short boards, 120 cm x 9.5 cm (for the bed frame)<\/li><\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\"><img decoding=\"async\" boards<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Using sandpaper, sand down your boards to remove splinters, which could injure your dog. <strong><em><br>Tip<\/em><\/strong>: 80 or 120 grit is sufficient<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>\u200d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STEP 4: cut your boards to the correct length<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For the frame: <\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>For the long sides of the basket: draw a mark 96 cm along your long boards <br>For the short sides of the basket: draw a mark 56 cm along your short boards<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>In total, you should have 4 long boards for the long sides, and 4 short boards for the short sides<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p><strong>For the square batten:<\/strong> Take 2 pieces of 4 x 4 cm batten, draw a mark at 25 cm and cut them with a jigsaw or hand saw. Then cut them on a diagonal to get 4 identical battens<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-center\">\n<figure assemble the two parts of the basket, while creating a ventilation space.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STEP 5: Cut out a recess for your dog \u00a0<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Draw a recess onto one of the long pieces, which you will cut out with a hand saw or jigsaw.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>The long pieces go on the outside and the short pieces on the inside of the structure<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Repeat step 6 to produce two frames, which we will stack one on top of the other.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STEP 7: The bed frame rails<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Cut 4 battens to a length of 56 cm (these battens must be the same length as the boards used for the shorter sides of the basket)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-fullwidth\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uploads-ssl.webflow.com\/5e160f141cfa69a8ac0e155c\/60477311fba4ce30b793b8f1_e%CC%81tape%208.jpg\" alt=\"DIY: Dog basket made using recovered materials \"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Once cut, place 3 battens into the bottom of your frame: 1 at each end and one at the centre of the frame.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-center\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image w-richtext-figure-type-image class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p><strong>You now have the base for your bed frame. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STEP 8: The bed frame <\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Take the 5 boards measuring 9.5 cm wide and draw a mark at 92 cm. Saw them to this length.<strong><br><\/strong>Then place the boards directly onto the bed frame rails and secure them directly to the battens using screws.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-center\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uploads-ssl.webflow.com\/5e160f141cfa69a8ac0e155c\/604773d2f2168233b9056b95_e%CC%81tape%209.jpg\" alt=\"DIY: Dog basket made using recovered materials \"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STEP 9: Assembling the parts<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Place 4 boards with a thickness of 1 cm on the lower part of what will be the basket to create the ventilation area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-center\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image w-richtext-figure-type-image w-richtext-align-center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uploads-ssl.webflow.com\/5e160f141cfa69a8ac0e155c\/604773fe39ab9716723d15f9_etape%2010.jpg\" alt=\"DIY: Dog basket made using recovered materials \"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"default__block container-fluid lg \">\n<p>Place a batten that has been cut in two at each corner of your structure and screw these directly to the two framework pieces of your basket.
